Inner Mongolia University(IMU), located in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a famous historic and cultural city, 400 km away from Beijing. IMU was founded in 1957 and is the first comprehensive university ever established in the ethnic regions in China. Inner Mongolia University is also one of the 88 national key universities authorized by the State Council in 1978, and one of national 211 project universities. In 2004, it became the key university to be jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education of China and the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and one of the universities of the national “Project to Promote the Comprehensive Strength of the Universities in the Middle and Western Regions” in 2012. Later, in 2013, IMU was designated as one of the first batch of model base schools to enroll international students and became one of the first batch of Double Tops Program schools of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2016.
Inner Mongolia University consists of 21 schools and has a student body of 31,792 students. It covers 10 disciplines such as philosophy, economics, law, literature, history, sciences, engineering, agriculture, management and art theory. Now, Inner Mongolia University boosts 2 state-level key disciplines (Chinese Ethnic Language & Literature and Zoology), one state-level key cultivation discipline of ecology, 18 regional-level key disciplines and 8 regional-level key cultivation disciplines, 7 first-level and 3 second-level Doctoral Degree disciplines, 26 first-level and 6 second-level Master Degree disciplines, 10 professional Master Degree programs and 7 post-doctoral research stations. In addition, it sets 82 undergraduate majors, and owns 144 undergraduate teaching labs and 104 educational internship bases both on and off campus.
IMU has officially signed agreements of inter-collegiate exchange and cooperation with 90 foreign universities and scientific research institutions, and such international exchange of staff and students keeps deepening and expanding.
