Yunnan University Admissions for International Students to Study for Bachelor’s Degree 

I. Student Categories

Full-time students applying for self-supporting bachelor's degrees.

II. Majors

All majors listed in the recruitment brochure for undergraduate students of Yunnan University are open to international students. 

III. Qualifications

1. Being of good character, obeying Chinese laws, observing Yunnan University's regulations, and respecting Chinese customs and public morals.

2. Health condition conforms with the "Health Examination Standards for Foreign Students" issued by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

3. Being of the age of 18 or above.

4. Students need to meet the following requirements:

(1) have obtained the graduation certificate of senior high school or above;

(2) HSK meets level 3 in majors relating to Chinese language;

(3) HSK meets level 4 in other majors;

(4)High school English scores should be 70 or above.

IV. Application Methods

1. Application Procedure

(1) Students who intend to study in China through exchange plans made by the two universities or other institutions of the two countries should apply according to the agreements;

(2) Students who stay in China or abroad and meet the qualification of application can apply on line Log on the website registration system and submit relevant materials as required.

2. Application materials:

(1) Original copy or notarized copy of certification of graduation from senior high school. A certificate of expected graduation should be provided if the student is studying at high school and has not been awarded the graduation certificate yet.

(2) Original copy or notarized copy of high school transcripts.

(3) Photocopy of a valid passport.

(4) Other documents which may support your application, such as award-winning certificates and recommendation letters. These documents are not required but can help you be given appropriate priority of consideration.

Notification:

(1) Students should hand in clear enough electronic scanned version of all the listed materials.

(2) Notarized translation must be provided if any of the documents listed above are not in Chinese or in English.

3. Application Time

Before 20th June each year.  

V. Admission

The acceptance letter will be e-mailed to the qualified applicants and a hard copy of the acceptance letter will be posted later.

The start time for each academic year is in September. The specific date will be stated on the acceptance letter.

VI. Registration

International students who are admitted need to apply for a Student Visa at the Chinese Embassy by presenting their passport, Admission Offer letter, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202Form). You can refer to the "Admission Notice" for the registration time and requirements. Freshmen need to provide the above original materials to the Section of International Students Service，School of International Education, Yunnan University during registration.

Students who are not able to complete registration due to any reason need to ask for leave at School of International Education in writing. ( If you do not register for over two weeks without any explanation, your admission qualification will be canceled.

VII. Accommodation

Accommodation will be arranged by the Section of International Students Service, School of International Education, according to the registration result. The telephone number for consultation about accommodation is+86-871-65032026.

VIII. Educational System

A flexible educational system is adopted by Yunnan University. It is usually 3-6 years for a Bachelor's degree and no longer than 6 years. Specific training programs will be made by each school and authorized by the Teaching Affairs Office, Yunnan University.

IX. Fee

1. Application Fee

The application fee is 600 yuan/person. It will not be returned to the students who have not met admission qualification or not been admitted.

2. Tuition Fee

(1) Majors of the first category:10000 yuan / person / academic year

(2) Majors of the second category: 11000 yuan / person / academic year

(3) Majors of the third category: 15000 yuan / person / academic year

Notification:

 (1) The first category includes the majors of philosophy, economics, law, pedagogy, literature, history and management; The second category includes the major of Neo Confucianism, engineering and agronomy; and the third category includes the majors of art and medicine.  

(2) Majors which are taught in English (International Economics and Trade /Business Administration /Software Engineering / Computer Science and Technology /Electronic Information Engineering /Civil Engineering) will be charged 15000 yuan / person / academic year.

(3) International students should pay tuition according to the rules made by Chinese Ministry of Education and Yunnan University. Tuition should be paid before the registration of each year and can also be paid together for four years.

3.Accommodation Fee

Room for two:2,700yuan/person/ semester;

Room for four:1,350yuan/person/ semester.

Accommodation fee will be charged by year at the beginning of the first semester of each year.

4.Insurance Fee

400 yuan/person/half year;

  800 yuan/person/year.

5.Residence Permit Fee

The residence permit fee is 400 yuan/person/year and paid according to China's regulations.

6. The fee for health certificate is 450 yuan/ person/ year.

X. Credit system

A credit system is adopted for international undergraduate education. Training plans will be discussed and made by each school according to subject and major training programs and will be checked and filed by Teaching Affairs Office, Yunnan University. The training process is the same as that for Chinese undergraduate students and public compulsory courses should be selected from Yunnan University General Education Courses Platform for Foreign Students.

XI. Degree

Full-time Bachelor's degree candidates who have passed all the exams and thesis oral defense, earned all the credits and met the degree requirements will be awarded a graduation certificate and Bachelor's degree diploma.

XII. Other

1. The International Students Office is responsible for the routine management of international students.

2. All the fees related to applying for studying in China should be paid by the students themselves.

3. School of International Education holds the explanation and interpretation rights of this recruitment brochure.
