About CSC Scholarship

In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities. Changsha University of Science & Technology (CSUST) is one of the universities designated by the China Scholarship Council to receive sponsored foreign students, offering a wide variety of academic programs in Education, Economics, Science, Engineering, Legal Studies, Management, Literature, Philosophy, Fine Arts, etc. for scholarship recipients at Chinese University’s Independent Enrollment Program level.

1. Scholarship Categories & Study Duration

?Scholarship for master’s degree programs is 3 academic years

? Scholarship for doctoral degree programs is 4 academic years

Note: The instruction language is mainly Chinese. Applicants are required to take one-year Chinese language course prior to the academic study if their Chinese is not qualified enough for the program study. Only by passing the examinations after the Chinese language course, can they start their academic studies.

2. Scholarship Coverage & Criteria

Scholarship holders are exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, laboratory experiment fee, internship fee, fee for accommodation on campus, and are provided with Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students in China.

Note: Monthly living allowance is granted to the students through the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):

- Master’s degree students: CNY 3,000 Yuan

- Doctoral degree students: CNY 3,500 Yuan

Notes:

1. Tuition for CSC scholarship student will be paid by the government to the university directly, so the student does not need pay by himself/herself. And the tuition will not pay to the student.

2. If CSC scholarship student choose to live on campus, we will provide free double room at International Students Apartment. The dormitory fee will be paid by the government to the university directly, so the student does not need pay by himself/herself. If master’s degree programs student applies to live off campus, extra 700 Yuan monthly allowance will be given to the student, if PhD scholarship student applies to live off campus, extra 1000 Yuan monthly allowance will be given to the students.

3. Comprehensive insurance is bought to CSC scholarship student. The fees will be paid by the government to the insurance company, so the student does not need pay by himself/herself. You can neither give up the insurance nor claim the money for buying the insurance. 

The funding period for CSC master’s degree programs is 3 years, for PhD scholarship is 4 years, if the additional one year Chinese language applies, the Chinese language year is also covered by the scholarship.

3.Scholarship Eligibility

?Non-Chinese citizen in good health

?Age below 35 years old for CSC Scholarship master’s degree program, age below  40 years old for CSC Scholarship doctoral degree program

?Bachelor Degree for CSC Scholarship master’s degree program, Master Degree for CSC Scholarship doctoral degree program

? HSK5 180 or above for the majors in Chinese medium, if you are not qualified for , one year elementary Chinese language training.

? For the majors in English medium, you should be native English speaker or with official language in English. Otherwise, you need to provide TOFEL/IELTS result.

? Not sponsored by any other kind of scholarship.

5. Application & Recruitment Procedures

?  CSUST organizes expert panel to appraise the documents and make a proposed list of applicants, and then reports to Hunan Provincial Education Committee and China Scholarship Council for final appraisal and approval.

?  CSUST posts Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW201) to the successful applicants directly by July.
