JXUTCM was one of the first batch of universities which were authorized to grant the master’s degree in Jiangxi Province. It recruited postgraduates in 1984 and was authorized to grant the master’s degree in 1986 and the doctoral degree in 2013. The doctoral program will recruit students in 2014.

There are 549 master's supervisors and 41 doctoral supervisors.The university has established four provincial innovation centers for postgraduate and four scholastic ones. It sets two doctoral authorization level disciplines,fourmaster’s degree ones,and thirty-four locations for master’s degree authorization of secondary disciplines,two master’s degree examples in the 12th five-year-plan of Jiangxi Province. It has a series of fundamental platforms for scientific research, such as the National Engineering Research Center for Manufacturing Technology of  TCM Solid Preparation, the Key Laboratory for Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine Preparation by the Education Ministry,and the Southern Moxibustion Center of Jiangxi Province,providing the university within fras tructures to develop the innovation plan of the graduate education.

JXUTCM always upholds the school motto (i.e. Learning and Virtue, Devoting and Excellence.) circling the two themes of quality and innovation, continually improving the cultivation mechanism of graduates, and energetically developing the graduate professional degree education.JXUTCM founded Qihuang Academy of TCM,which firstly recruited postgraduates in 2013 and created a new “Academy”mode of training talents and provided a new platform for postgraduate education. It also set up a practice class of Pursuing Excellence to cultivate the talents with good psychological qualities,professionalism and innovation. Meanwhile, the university has been implementing innovation scheme of graduate education and organizing some brand activities, such as “Forum of Pursuing Excellence”“Chinese Medicine Seminar”“Furbishing up Bencao”，buildinga strong academic atmosphere and improving the all-around qualities of graduates.
