Anhui University of Science and Technology (AUST) is located in Huainan City, Anhui 

Province, China's famous energy city and the birthplace of Chinese cuisine, tofu. Anhui 

Province is located in the central and eastern part of China，the middle and lower reaches of 

the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River. Anhui has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. 

The founder of Taoism, Laozi and Zhuangzi, the renowned Eastern Han Dynasty doctor Hua 

Tuo, and the politician and military strategist of the Three Kingdoms era Cao Cao are all 

from Anhui. There are many scenic spots in Anhui. Huangshan is the world's cultural and 

natural heritage and the world geopark. The ancient villages (Xidi and Hongcun) in southern 

Anhui are world cultural heritages. Jiuhua is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in 

China. Tianzhu Mountain is also one of the world geoparks. Shou County, surrounded by 

rivers and mountains, which is under the jurisdiction of Huainan City, has a history of more 

than 2,000 years. Huainan is a famous historical and cultural city in China and an important 

birthplace of Chu and Han culture which bears the origin of the historical masterpiece 

---Huainanzi. It enjoys convenient transportation, 45 minutes' drive from Hefei Airport, and 

only 2-3 hours to Nanjing, Huangshan, Shanghai and Beijing by high-speed train. AUST 

boasts a beautiful picturesque campus and facilitated students’ dormitories, which spans 

over 600 acres with a building area of 800,000 square meters. 

Founded in 1945, AUST is the earliest public university of engineering in Anhui 

Province. With more than 70 years' development, it pursues a coordinated development of 

engineering, science, medicine, management, literature, economics, law, and art while 

focusing on engineering. AUST is composed of 17 Schools and Departments, offering 28 

doctoral programs, 108 master's programs and 76 undergraduate programs. The current 

enrollment is approximately 24,000 full-time undergraduate students, and more than 3,000 

graduate students and international students.AUST is a high-level university with distinguished characteristics in Anhui Province. It 

is a university supported by the National Central and Western University's Basic Capacity 

Building Project. It is the outstanding university of the Ministry of Education's "Excellent 

Engineer Education and Training Program" and excellent undergraduate teaching university

by the Ministry of Education. There are a State Key Laboratory of Mining-induced Response 

and Disaster Prevention and Control in Deep Coal Mines, a State Engineering Laboratory of 

Deep Coal Mine Construction Technology, a National and Local Joint Engineering Research 

Center for Safe and Precise Coal Mining, and 32 provincial level research centers. In 2016, 

AUST was selected as the first batch of “National Innovation and Entrepreneurship 

Demonstration Universities” (TOP50 in China) and "The first batch of national deepening 

innovation and entrepreneurship education reform model universities" (TOP99). In 2018, it 

ranked 58 in the list of “National Colleges and Universities Contest Achievements 

Assessment (Undergraduates) TOP 100”. In 2018, it was approved as a national 

demonstration base for innovative talent training.
