Programs for International Students
International students have the following options of study on both degree-granting and non-degree granting programs at Shanxi Agricultural University: Undergraduate Programs Master’s Programs Doctoral Programs Degree Programs Offered in English Chinese Language ProgramVisiting Student Programs Research Scholar Programs Short-term characteristic Specialty Programs
Study Duration and academic schedule
The normal duration of study for each program is as follows: 4 years for bachelor’s degrees, 3 years for master's degrees, and 3 years for doctoral degrees. Students may, in particular cases, apply for early or delayed graduation.
SXAU divides every academic year into spring and autumn semesters, with the latter marking the commencement of the academic year. The autumn semester starts in late August or early September and ends in mid- or late January of the following year, while the spring semester begins in late February or early March and ends in mid-July. There will be a winter and summer vacation every year. The summer vacation usually lasts 6 weeks and the winter vacation lasts 4 weeks and normally coincides with the Chinese New Year. Please check the latest academic calendar for details.
Application procedure

Degree programs: March 1st to June 1st every year
Non-degree programs: Spring semester: March 1st to June 15th
Autumn semester: September 1st to December 15th

Applicant should deliver the hard copy of the application form and other required materials to Foreign Affairs Office, Shanxi Agricultural University
3. Qualification of Applicants
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with good health, valid passport, above the age of 18, and should abide by Chinese law and the regulations of SXAU. They should also respect Chinese social customs.
2) Requirement of language proficiency:
(a) For programs offered in Chinese: applicants for the programs of humanities, social sciences, management should pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 5 or above before admission, and those for science and engineering programs should pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 4 or above before admission.
(b) For Doctoral Program applicants: if the English proficiency is sufficient, the Chinese language requirement could be adjusted for some majors.
(c) General Visiting Students are allowed to take specialty courses when they pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 5 and above before admission. The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 6 and above owner can take specialty courses directly.
(d) Senior Visiting Students and Research Scholars are not required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam, on the premise that the candidate experiences no obstacles in communicating with their advisor.
(e) Applicants of Chinese-taught programs without adequate Chinese language proficiency must take Chinese language training courses in the Chinese Language Training Center at SXAU for one to two years to reach the language requirements before major studies.

Generally, applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely.
1.Application Form for International Students at SXAU
2.Recommendation Letter for International Students
3.A photocopy of the valid passport (pages with photo, including the valid visa page and residence permit page if you are already in China)
4.Diploma/Degree certificate. (Those who have not graduated yet shall offer Pre-graduation Certificate and academic transcript.) Undergraduate program applicants need to submit notarized photocopies of high school certificate. Master program applicants need to submit bachelor degree certificate. Doctoral program applicants need to submit both master and bachelor degree certificates.
5.Academic transcript. Undergraduate program applicants need to submit notarized photocopies of senior high academic transcript. Master program applicants need to submit academic transcript of undergraduate study. Doctoral program applicants need to submit academic transcripts of both graduate and undergraduate studies.
6.Personal Resume / CV (Doctoral program applicants and Research Scholars also need to submit brief introduction of research experience)
7.Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate (HSK) and score report (unless a waiver is approved). Original version is required in the process of registration.
8.English Language Proficiency certificate for applicants of English-taught programs (IELTS, IBT)
9. Letter of Gurantee
10. Certification of health and AIDS Check.

The applicants should send the following documents to the Foreign Affairs Office two months prior to school terms.
Applicant should pay the application fee before sending application materials.
Accept cash or on-line payment. RMB only. Non-refundable.
The application is invalid if the application materials are incomplete or the application fee is not paid.
