Chinese Government Scholarship Program

  Xi'an Jiaotong University (hereinafter refers to as “XJTU”) is a top ten university in China with a history of over a hundred years. The University is located in Xi'an, the ancient city, which boasts many famous tourist sites.

  XJTU is a key state university that operates under the administration of the Ministry of Education of China, well-known for its highly qualified teaching staff, outstanding students, modern facilities, and its beautiful campus. In order to promote a better understanding and friendship between Chinese and people from other countries, XJTU welcomes international students to apply “Chinese Government Scholarship” for graduate studies.

II. Duration of Program: 
Master's degree: 2～3 years, 
Doctoral degree: 3～4 years. 
Successful candidates may have one-year-long Chinese language study prior to the academic study if the teaching language is Chinese.

III. Scholarship Coverage: 
1. A waiver of fee for tuition; 
2. Free on-campus dormitory accommodation; 
3. Monthly living allowance: 
Master's degree students: CNY 3,000 yuan/month; 
Doctoral degree students: CNY 3,500 yuan/month; 
4. Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China.

IV. Eligibility: 
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports; 
2. Applicants must be in good health; 
3. Applicants for Master's degree must have a Bachelor's degree and be under 35 years of age, 
 Applicants for Doctoral degree must have a Master's degree and be under 40 years of age;

4. Applicants cannot be studying in China under CSC scholarship currently. (CSC Scholarship Graduates from Chinese universities should be graduated before July,2018)

2019 Xi'an Jiaotong University Confucius Institute Scholarship

For the purpose of supporting the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitating international promotion of Chinese language and Chinese culture, and cultivating qualified Chinese-language teachers and excellent Chinese-language learners, authorized by Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban (hereinafter referred to as Hanban), Xi’an Jiaotong University has launched Confucius Institute Scholarship program to recruit foreign students, scholars and Chinese language teachers to study Chinese Language.

I. Target applicants

1. Non-Chinese citizens.

2. Be in good health with outstanding learning performance and morality.

3. Be willing to engage in the work relating to Chinese education, teaching and international promotion.

4. be between 16 to 35 years old (before Sep 1, 2019). On-duty Chinese language teacher can be extended to 45 years old.

II. Programs and Eligibility

1. One-Academic-Year Learning Program

It provides a sponsorship for 11 months since Sep, 2019. Students who are studying in China are not eligible for the program.

1.1 Chinese language and literature

HSK (level 4) should be above 180 and HSKK (intermediate) above 60.

1.2 Chinese language learning

HSK (level 3) should be above 210.

2. One-Semester Learning Program

It provides a sponsorship for 5 months since Sep, 2019 or March, 2020. Students who have X1, X2 visa are not eligible for the program.

2.1 Chinese language and literature

HSK (level 3) should be above180 and have HSKK score.

3. Four-week Learning Program

It provides a sponsorship for 4 weeks since July, 2019 or December, 2019. Students who have X1, X2 visa are not eligible for the program.

3.1 Chinese language + Chinese homestay/visit

Confucius Institute should contact in advance with our university for confirming the study schedule which should be submitted to theConfucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban for approval. Group (10-15 people) application by Confucius Institute is preferred. Each applicant in the group should have HSK score.

3.2 Special learning program of Four-week

Group (10-15 people) application by Confucius Institute is preferred. Each applicant in the group should have HSK score.

III. Scholarship Coverage and Criteria

 Confucius Institute scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, monthly living allowance (exclude four-week program students) and comprehensive insurance.

Monthly living allowance for students of One-Academic-Year Learning Program and One-Semester Learning Program is 2500 RMB.

Xi’an Belt & Road International Student Scholarship

Xi’an Jiaotong University Admission Notice

Xi'an Belt & Road International Student scholarship is founded by Xi'an Municipal Government. As hosting university, Xi’an Jiaotong University will offer this scholarship to students from One Belt & One Road country to study in Xi’an.

1. Scholarship Coverage and Type

Student Type: Bachelor, Master, PhD and one-year non-degree program students.

Scholarship Coverage:

Bachelor: RMB 15000 per year

Master: RMB 20000 per year

PhD: RMB 25000 per year

One-year non-degree program students: RMB 10000 per year.

Note: Since Master and PhD application exceeded our admission limit, only Bachelor and one-year non-degree program are open for application now.

Shaanxi San Qin International Student Scholarship

Since 2015, Shaan’xi province will set up ‘Shaanxi San Qin International Student Scholarship’ to encourage and attract more outstanding international students to study in Shaanxi province.

1．Supporting Categories: 
On-campus Degree Students including Undergraduates and Postgraduates except freshmen.

2．Scholarship Standards: 
Undergraduates: RMB 13,000 yuan; 
Master Students: RMB 20,000 yuan; 
PhD Students: RMB 30,000 yuan.

3．Application Requirements: 
1) Applicants must be on-campus Degree Students of Xi’an Jiaotong University, holding valid foreign passports and in a healthy condition. 
2) Applicants should have good behavior and grades, the score of every compulsory course of the applying year should be no less than 70 points. 
3) Applicants must be not in receipt of any other scholarship. 
4) Age Requirements: 
A maximum of 25 years old for Undergraduates; 
A maximum of 30 years old for Master Students; 
A maximum of 35 years old for PhD Students.

3) Two recommendation letters are required for Postgraduates applicants including Master Students and PhD Students.
