Founded in 1901, Shandong University is a comprehensive university which has significant influence both at home and abroad and is also a member university of Project 211 and Project 985.

Shandong University, Weihai was founded in 1984 and is a campus of Shandong University. It offers 45 Bachelor’s Degree programs spanning 8 general disciplines, namely, Literature, Art, Law, Economics, Management, Science, Engineering and Medicine. The university can recruit postgraduates in 25 first-level disciplines, doctoral students in 20 first-level disciplines, and post-doctoral students in 16 first-level disciplines. It now has 14,400 undergraduate students, 1,200 master and PhD students and over 1,000 international students. The number of faculty and staff is 1,200, including 370 professors and associate professors and 341 PhD and master students’ supervisors.

Over the years, Shandong University, Weihai has established a broad international network for educational cooperation and has established cooperative relations with 86 well-known universities in 12 countries including Australia, the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Spain, Russia, Sweden, Canada, New Zealand and regions including Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan of China.

        Shandong University, Weihai is located in Weihai, a beautiful coastal city in eastern Shandong Province. As the Blue Leisure Center, as well as one of the World’s Most Livable Cities, Weihai is also the first city awarded China’s State-Level Hygiene City. The city boasts a coastline of 985 kilometers, which accounts for 1/18 of China’s total length of coastline and is endowed with beautiful and enchanting sceneries. Direct flights to Beijing, capital of China, Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province as well as Incheon, the fourth largest city of South Korea merely take around 1 hour.
