Hubei University, jointly developed by Hubei Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education of China, is a key comprehensive university administrated by Hubei Province. Established in 1931, located in the center of Wuhan—the capital city of Hubei Province and a transportation hub in central China, the university covers an area of 300 acres. Hubei University has 18 academic faculties offering 80 undergraduate (bachelor’s degree) programs, 9 doctoral degrees in first-level disciplines, 6 post-doctoral research stations, 27 master’s degrees in first-level disciplines. There are 2 state key laboratories and 6 provincial key laboratories. Hubei University attracts more than 1417 distinguished research faculties and teaching staffs. Among them, there are 893 professors and associate professors and 155 doctoral supervisors. There are nearly 180,000 full-time undergraduate and college students, and over 6000 master’s or doctor’s candidates. Each year, 400 international students enroll in different degree or foundation courses, including those with Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Hubei Provincial Scholarship and Hubei University ScholarshipHubei University has established stable relationship of exchange and cooperation with more than 150 universities and research institutes in over 39 countries and regions. Hubei University has been accepting international students since 1960s. Through joint effort of Hubei University and institutions overseas, multiple Confucius Institutes/Classrooms have been established in North America, South America, Europe and Africa. Since 2013, Hubei University has been qualified to receive and educate students with Chinese Government Scholarship.
