Fundamental theories of TCM

Fundamental theories of TCM introduces the theory of physiological activity and disease transformation. It mainly includes the theory of yin yang, wu xing, yun qi, zang xiang, jing luo, etc. It also includes the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, syndrome differentiation, treatment rule, treatment, prevention, health maintenance, which lays down the groundwork for future higher level courses such as diagnostics of TCM, TCM herbology, TCM formulas and clinical practice, etc.

Diagnostics of TCM

Diagnostics of TCM elaborate on the diagnosis of Chinese medicine and the differentiation of TCM syndromes including basic diagnostic theory, methods and skills. It consists of two sections. The first section introduces the basic theory and method regarding observation, smelling, asking, pulse feeling and palpation methods. The second part introduces eight principal syndromes, etiology and syndrome differentiation of Qi and blood, viscera syndrome differentiation and syndrome differentiation of the six meridians, weiqiyingxue syndrome differentiation, the triple energizer meridian differentiation and syndrome differentiation, disease diagnosis, nomenclature and classification. It provides basic training on preliminary diagnosis, differentiation and medical record writing, laying the foundation for TCM herbology, TCM formulas and clinical practice, etc.

TCM herbology

TCM herbology is a prerequisite course for all majors. It focuses on the source, collection, process of Chinese herbal medicine, as well as its feature, efficiency and clinical applications. This course helps students to administer the basic pharmacological functions, application theory and skills of traditional Chinese medicine, which lays the foundation for TCM formulas and other professional courses and clinical practice.

TCM internal medicine

Through this course students can grasp the symptoms, etiology, pathogenesis, symptom differentiation, treatment and prescription of internal medicine. This course also teaches the treatment of refractory diseases, acute and severe diseases, and being familiar with the clinical thinking of TCM internal medicine.
