About the
University
With a history of
nearly 77 years, Hubei University for Nationalities (HUN)
is a provincial and comprehensive public university under the direct administration of Hubei Provincial Government with its focus on undergraduate education.
Located in Enshi, southwest of Hubei Province, the University enjoys convenient
transportation with expressways, railways and daily flights to different places
of China; with a campus by the Qingjiang River, the University is really a
wonderful place to study with its quiet and beautiful surroundings. The campus
covers an area of 113 hectares with the total value of facilities for teaching
and academic research reaching RMB 150 million. The library of the University
houses over 1.57 million volumes of paper books, and
has a complete and modern e-book systemwith a number of more
than 3.05 million kinds of e-books. There are about 1000 full-time teachers, of
whom more than 120 are professors. The University has a total enrollment of over
18,000 full-time students and it consists of 18 schools with 57 programs for
undergraduate students, covering ten disciplines, namely law, pedagogy,
literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medical science, management,
economics and art. Besides, the University offers 5 primary master programs
(including ethnology, mathematics, chemical engineering and technology,
forestry, and traditional Chinese medicine), 24 secondary master programs
including literary theory, and 3 professional master programs (including
engineering, clinical medicine, journalism and communications). In addition, the
University jointly offers the doctor programs with Minzu University of China,
Beijing Forestry University and Hubei University of Chinese Medicine in the
discipline of ethnology, law, forestry and traditional Chinese
medicine.
The University has
established cooperative relationship with more than 20 universities in the UK,
the U.S.A, Canada, Russia, Australia, South Korea etc., and it also enjoys
cooperative exchange programs of teachers and students and Sino-foreign
education with University of Derby and London South Bank University. In 2002,
the University began to enroll international students and presently has an
enrollment of full-time international students from Nepal, Ghana and India
majoring inClinical
Medicine for MBBS degree with study duration of 6
years.
