Chinese Government Scholarship

Independent Enrollment Program of 2018 of Northeast Normal University (NENU) is available from now. Please read the following regulations and instructions:


1. Category of Enrollment

Full-time postgraduates (Master & Ph.D) 

Master’s and doctoral degree programs of Education, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Geographical Sciences (Majors of Physical Geography, Human geography, and Cartography and Geography Information System), Ecology, Psychology and Economics (World Economy and Finance) taught in English are the priority majors at NENU.


2. Target Candidates

The candidates are selected directly from abroad, excluding the international students who would graduate in China in 2018.


3. Qualifications

All applicants should be non-Chinese citizens.

An applicant applying for a master degree should be under 35 years old and obtain a bachelor's degree.

An applicant applying for a doctoral degree should be under 40 years old and obtain a master's degree.  


4. Scholarship Coverage


Exempt from Application, tuition and campus accommodation fees;

Living allowance (Ph.D. 3,500 RMB/month,  Master 3,000RMB/month)

Application Guide for NENU Confucius Institute Scholarship 2019

For the purpose of cultivating qualified Chinese language teachers and facilitating the promotion of Chinese language and culture, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) launches “Confucius Institute Scholarship” (CIS) to support outstanding students, scholars and currently employed Chinese language teachers recommended by Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms as well as some HSK test centers (hereinafter to be collectively referred to as “recommending institutions”) to study in Chinese universities and colleges (hereinafter referred to as “host institutions”).

I.ELIGIBILITY

All applicants shall be

a)  Non-Chinese citizens

b) In good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and conduct;

c)  committed to the teaching and international promotion of the Chinese language;

d)  Between the ages of 16-35 as of September 1st, 2019. Applicants currently worked as Chinese language teachers shall not over 45, while undergraduate student applicants shall not be over 25.

II. SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. Scholarship for Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL)

The program commences in September 2019 and provides scholarship for maximum two academic years.  Applicants shall hold a Bachelor’s degree, and have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution or relevant proof upon completing their studies in China.

2.Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (BTCSOL)  

The program commences in September 2019 and provides scholarship for a maximum of four academic years. Applicants shall hold a high school diploma and a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 4) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). 

3.Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study

The program commences in September 2019, and provides scholarship for a maximum of 11 months. International students currently studying in China are not eligible.

  3.1 TCSOL

  Applicants shall have a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.

  3.2 Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, and Chinese Philosophy

  Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

  3.3 Chinese Language Study

  Applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3).

4. Scholarship for One-semester Study

The program commences either in September 2019 or March 2020, and provides scholarship of a maximum of 5 months. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.

Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required.

5. Scholarship for Four-week Study

The program commences either in July or December of 2019, and provides a four-week scholarship. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visa are not eligible.

An HSK test score is required. The program is organized and applied for by a Confucius Institute with 10-15 participants per group.

6.Cooperative Scholarship between Hanban and NENU((MTCSOL)

NENU cooperated with Hanban to establish “NENU Confucius Institute Scholarship”to enroll MTCSOL. The enrollment procedures and requirements are same as the ordinary MTCSOL.

Trial Implementation for NENU Excellent Self-supporting International Students Yearly Scholarship

Ⅰ. Purpose of Review

In order to encourage international students to study hard and be positive, to improve reputation of our university, and to attract more international students to study in NENU.

Ⅱ. Eligibility of Applicants 

1. The applicant should be language NENU student or registered student ( including undergraduates and graduates (master degree and Ph.D. degree).

  Language students should apply for the scholarship only by the academic records of the first academic year;

  Registered freshmen should apply for the scholarship by pre-school report cards or academic works;

  Current undergraduates should apply for the scholarship only by the academic records of the first, the second and the third academic years;

  Current graduates (master degree and Ph.D. degree) should apply for the scholarship only by the academic records of the first and the second academic years.

  For students who are on extension study periods, the academic records of the extension periods would be invalid for the application.

2. Abide by laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China as well as the school regulations of NENU. Study hard, be positive and well-conducted, respect teachers and be friendly to China.

Ⅲ. Criteria of Review

Language Students:

Applicants should have attended all the courses of each semester in last academic year with excellent academic records and no records of unexcused absences.

Registered Students:

1. Current Students: applicants should have elected at least three courses of each semester in last academic year and get the following results in each course:

① Applicants for the first prize should have passed the exam of each course at the first time and get excellent academic records;

② Applicants for the second prize should have passed the exam of each course at the first time and get great academic records;

③ Applicants for the third prize should have passed the exam of each course at the first time and get good academic records;

2.Freshmen:

① Undergraduates: applicants should have got excellent academic records in all the courses of the period of senior high school;

②Graduates (master degree): applicants should have got excellent academic records in all the courses of the period of undergraduate.

③Graduates (Ph.D. degree): applicants should have got excellent academic records in all the courses of the period of graduation or have published articles in the international famous academic journals.

Ⅳ. Number of Recipients

1. Language Student Scholarships: 25 students per year

2. Registered Student Scholarships:

① Undergraduates: 5 first prizes , 15 second prizes and 20 third prizes per year

② Graduates (master degree): 3 first prizes , 5 second prizes and 8 third prizes per year

③ Graduates (Ph.D. degree): 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes.

Ⅴ. Standard of Scholarship

1. Language Students Scholarship: CNY2000/person/year

2. Undergraduates Scholarship:

  the first prize: CNY6000/person/year,

  the second prize: CNY4000/person/year,

  the third prize: CNY2000/person/year.

3. Graduates (master degree) Scholarship:

  the first prize: CNY8000/person/year,

  the second prize: CNY5000/person/year,

  the third prize: CNY3000/person/year.

4. Graduates (Ph.D. degree) Scholarship:

  the first prize: CNY10000/person/year,

  the second prize: CNY6000/person/year.

Ⅵ. Methods of Selection

Freshmen applicants should fill outApplication Form for NENU Excellent Self-Supporting International Students Scholarshipand deliver it with corresponding report cards and academic works to the International Students Office of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange.

Applicants of current students should fill outApplication Form for NENU Excellent Self-Supporting International Students Scholarshipand deliver it to their respective school ( department, section, institute). The school ( department, section, institute) should fill out written comments according to the examination results and daily performance of the applicants, and then deliver the form with the responsible person’s signature and the official seal to the International Students Office of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange.

The Review Committee, consisted of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, the School of Graduates, Office of Teaching Affairs and the relevant schools(departments),sections and institutes, will rank the applicants and decide the winners according to the applications of the applicants and the opinions of their respective school, section and institute. The prize of the year will be a bye if there’s no qualified person for it.
