Henan Provincial Government Scholarship

1. Majors:  

      Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture and Massage, Traditional Chinese Pharmacology


2. Targets of the Scholarship:  


       The applicant must hold a foreign passport or proof of nationality with four or more years’ validity, and must have been living abroad for over two years (if the applicant has lived abroad for nine months or more in any given year, this shall be counted as a full year) in the lastfour years (as of April 30thof the year).

3. Type and Allocationof Scholarships


      The Henan Provincial Government Scholarship is granted toChinese language students, visiting scholars, junior college students, undergraduates, postgraduate and doctoral candidates.

       The current value ofscholarship isas follows:

             RMB 40,000/year/person for doctoral candidates;

             RMB 30,000/year/person for postgraduates;

             RMB 15,000/year/person for undergraduates;

             RMB 10,000/year/person for 1-year Chinese language students, junior college students, visiting scholars;

             RMB 5,000/year/person for 1-semester Chinese language students, junior college students, visiting scholars.


4. Conditions forApplication


4.1 Non-Chinese citizens with good physical health and no criminal records;


4.2 Applicants who abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and who comply with the rules and regulations of the university;


4.3 Applicants who display thecorrect attitude to learning and have evidence of outstanding performance;


4.4 Requirements foreducational background and age of applicants:


4.4.1 Applicants for junior college and bachelor’s degree must have a high school education or above, evidence of outstanding performance,and be under 30 years of age;


4.4.2 Applicants formaster’sdegreemust hold a bachelor’s degree or above, or have graduated from junior college more than 2 years previously, and be under 40 years of age;


4.4.3 Applicants fordoctoral degrees must hold a master’s degree or aboveand be under 45 years of age;


4.4.4 Applicants forChinese language study must have high school education or above and be under 55 years of age;


4.4.5 Applicants for visiting scholars must satisfy the relevant requirements of China’sMinistry of Education and be under 45 years of age.


4.5 Applicants who havealready received rewards or subsidies from the Chinese government or other organizations, such as a Chinese Government Scholarship, a Confucius Institute Scholarship, or a scholarship from foreign governments,foreign enterprisesor Chinese enterprises, shall not be eligible to apply for the Henan Provincial Government Foreign Student Scholarship.




5.Materials to Be Submitted


5.1 Application Form for the Henan Provincial GovernmentForeign Students Scholarship;


5.2 Original or notarized copy of highest level diploma (if the applicant is a student or is currently in employment, he or she needs to provide a certificate issued by the school or employer); documents provided in languages other thanChinese orEnglish shall be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation;


5.3 Applications from junior college, undergraduateshall includeseniorhigh school transcripts; postgraduate candidates shall include undergraduateor postgraduate transcripts respectively  (junior college graduates shall include junior college transcripts and certificate of work experience for 2 years and above); original or notarized copiesof the transcripts shall be provided; transcriptsin languages other than Chinese or English shall be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation;


5.4 Applications from junior college, undergraduate and visiting scholars shall includea personal statement,outlining the applicant’s study plan,ofno less than 400 words;


5.5 Applications for postgraduatecandidates shall include a personal statement,outlining the applicant’s study plan, of no less than 600 words, along with two recommendation letters frommembers of academic staff of associate professor level or above;Applications for doctoral candidates shall include a personal statement,outlining the applicant’s research plan ofno less than 800 words, as well astwo recommendation letters frommembers of academic staff of associate professor level or above;

5.6 Certification of Chinese skills, English skills or equivalent certification;


5.7 Original or notarized copy of theForeigner Physical Examination Formand blood testreport;


5.8 Original or notarized copy of the Certificate of Clearance; documents provided in languages other than Chinese or English shall be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation;


5.9 If the applicant is less than 18 years old, he or she must providea power of attorney fromtheir business in China or a power of attorney fromtheir guardian in China, certified by a Chinese embassy overseas;


5.10 Pre-Admission Notice.


    Note: Please prepare all documents in two copies; the documents willnot be returned to applicants regardless of whether the application is successfulor not.


6.ApplicationProcess


      The applicants shall send theirapplicationsdirectly to the Henan University of Chinese Medicine.

        From January to early April every year
