I.  Non-degree students / course without an academic degree


  a. Short-term Chinese language course

    The duration of study ranges from one to three months. The student can study upon his/her arrival. Small classes (no more than 20 students) are arranged to improve students’ spoken Chinese and listening ability. The class schedule is subject to discussion between both sides.


  b. Long-term Chinese language course

    The duration of study lasts for one semester or more. School starts at the beginning of each March and September, and enrollment is for the whole year. Based on students’ Chinese level, classes are divided into five levels: complete beginner, beginner, elementary, intermediate and advanced. Classes provided are small (no more than 20 students), for 18-24 class hours each week. Required Chinese courses cover basic Chinese, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Elective courses cover Chinese dance, music, drawing, Chinese calligraphy, paper-cut, martial art, health care and more. During the period of study many practice activities will be arranged, such as visiting the famous scenic spots in Hunan, watching dragon and lion dancing, and being introduced to Chinese students as study partners.


C. “One-to-one” tutorial course

   Courses start at any time, with application made at least two weeks in advance. Study covers Chinese language, Chinese cultures, music, dancing, and other fields as arranged.


d.  Chinese language transfer students (join a class in the middle of courses)

   Courses start at any time, but students must have a previous foundation in Chinese language learning. Application must be made at least two weeks in advance.


e.  Short-term Chinese culture course

   Chinese painting and calligraphy: instruction concerning Chinese calligraphy and theory and skills of Chinese painting will be given by teachers from the Fine Art Department.

Traditional Chinese martial art: instruction concerning theory and skills of traditional Chinese martial art will be given by teachers from the Sports Science Department.

Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture: instruction will be given by teachers from the Sports Science Department and by experienced doctors of Chinese medicine. For the study of Chinese culture, our university can arrange the time and content of study according to the preference of the applicant. The fees are set based on content, course duration, and the number of students. Application should be two months in advance.


  Note:A certificate will be offered to the student who successfully completes all the required courses.



II.  Degree students / courses with academic qualifications


   Duration of study could be flexible; the overall study period will be around 4 years. Courses start each September, with applications accepted before August 31 each year. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. The first semester starts from early September to late January of following year and the second semester from late February to mid-July. International degree students can choose to participate in any of the undergraduate programs. The study of degree students is based on a credit system. As long as the student has successfully obtained the required number of credits, he/she will be qualified to a Bachelor Degree.
