Brief Introduction of SHNU
Founded
in 1954, a key university in Shanghai, Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) is a
comprehensive university with salient features of teacher training and
particular strength in liberal arts. With over 40,000 students, SHNU has 18
colleges with 85 undergraduate disciplines related to 11 subjects covering
philosophy, literature, pedagogy, history, law, economics, management theory,
mathematics, engineering, agriculture and so on. SHNU has 154 Master's degree
programs, 42 doctoral degree programs and 7 post-doctoral research
centers.
One of the earliest universities to provide Chinese language
programs to international students in Shanghai, SHNU started to accept
international students in 1965. SHNU is one of the authorized universities to
accept international students sponsored by Chinese Government Scholarship,
Confucius Scholarship, Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship and so on. SHNU
has three Confucius institutes which were co-established by SHNU and the
University of Missouri in America, Fukuyama University in Japan and the
University of Botswana in Botswana. With a global view, SHNU has established
cooperation and exchange relationships with more than 200 universities and
academic institutions from over 30 countries, including Havard University in USA
and Waseda University in Japan.
SHNU has two main campuses, Xuhui Campus
and Fengxian Campus, covering an area of over 1.62 million square meters.
International students in ICCS study and live on Xuhui Campus. Very close to
Xujiahui, one of the most prosperous areas in Shanghai, SHNU boasts very
