Scholarships

1.Chinese Government Scholarships


    Chinese Government Scholarship programs sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to undertake degree studies (bachelor, master and PhD) and Chinese language study or academic research in institutions of higher education in China.


     Duration  Chinese Government Scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The table below illustrates the duration of each program. 



   It covers tuition, accommodation, stipend and comprehensive medical insurance.


   Accommodation:

       free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy. If the host university requires students to live on campus, the university will accommodate the scholarship students in a university dormitory (usually a twin room); if the host university permits students to live off campus, the university will provide monthly/quarterly accommodation subsidy: undergraduate students (preppies), master’s students(general scholars): CNY 700 per month; doctoral students (senior scholars): CNY 1000 per month.


   Stipend:


      Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month;

      Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;

      Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.


        Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive a stipend from their host university each month. Students registering on or before the 15th of the month will receive a full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive a half stipend of that month. Graduating students will receive stipend until half month after the graduation date. If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days due to a personal reason (school holidays excluded), his stipend will be stopped during his leaving.

    3.MOFCOM Scholarship for Master of Meteorology


          The Chinese Ministry of Commerce will provide funds from foreign aid to sponsor students from developing countries. The fund covers academic, administrative fees as well as basic living expenses of each student. The academic fees include tuition, fees of teaching materials, fees of research and survey, thesis instruction fees etc.; living expenses include accommodation fee, stipend, one-time settlement allowance, insurance fee etc. The one-time settlement allowance of 3,000 CNY/person will be paid to students directly. In terms of living expenses, it is 36,000 CNY/year per person for the master program, and 42,000 CNY/year per person for the doctoral program, and will be distributed to students gradually by the undertaking university. The rest expenses should be managed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce or the undertaking university rather than granting to students.

4.Jasmine Jiangsu Government Scholarship


    Full Scholarship


     (1) A fee waiver of tuition, registration, laboratory experiments, internship, and basic textbooks.
          Cost of experiments or internships beyond the program curricula is at student's own expense.
          Cost of books or learning materials other than required basic textbooks is at student's own expense.


     (2) Free on-campus dormitory accommodation, or an accommodation allowance of CNY 10,000 per year.


     (3) A living allowance of CNY1,500 per month.


           Scholarship recipients registering before the 15th of the registration month (the 15th included) will be granted the full living allowance of that month. Recipients registering after the 15th of the registration month will only be granted half of the living allowance of that month.


     (4) Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students while in China.
Partial Scholarship


          College student: CNY20,000 per academic year; Duration: One academic year

          Undergraduate student / Postgraduate student: CNY 30,000 per academic year; Duration: One academic year.

          Non-degree program student / Exchange student: CNY2,000 per month;    Duration: 3 to 12 months (in accordance with the agreement


    Application Procedures


        Log on to the "Study in Jiangsu" website( http://www.studyinjiangsu.org).

        Register an individual account.

        Complete the Application Form online, and upload e-copies of relevant original documents.

        Print the Application Form, sign it, and email it to jasmine-application@jesie.org.

        Application Time: Jan. 1 to May 31.



5.  Nanjing Government Scholarship


         Undergraduate student: CNY 10,000 per academic year;


         Graduate student: CNY 20,000 per academic year;


         Non-degree student: CNY 5,000 every six months.




6.NUIST-WMO Fellowships Education Program


       The scholarship covers a tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, comprehensive medical insurance and a round-trip ticket. The stipend is CNY 2,000 per month. Students registering on or before the 15th of the month will receive a full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive a half stipend of that month. Graduating students will receive stipend until half month after the graduation date. If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days due to a personal reason (school holidays excluded), his stipend will be stopped during his leaving.

7.China-U.S. Culture Exchanges Special Scholarship


    Categories, Duration, Language Requirement


       A. Categories: Bachelor, Master or Doctoral degree programme


       B. Language Requirement: Bachelor programme (in Chinese medium), Master and Doctoral programme (in English or Chinese medium).  If you have not met the Chinese requirement for Chinese-medium programme, Chinese language (preparatory) study will be arranged before the major study.


       C. Scholarship Duration: Undergraduate (4-5 academic years), Master (2-3 academic years), Doctoral (3-4 academic years).


       The scholarship duration specified in the Admission Letter covers major study and Chinese language study, and it cannot be extended in general.



    Coverage and Standard


        It is a full Chinese Government Scholarship.

8.NUIST Excellent Freshmen Scholarship


     Scholarship Coverage


     Undergraduate student: first year’s tuition waiver.

     Graduate student: tuition waiver. Duration of Chinese-taught Master’s Programs: 3 years, duration of English-taught Master’s Programs: 2 years; Duration of Ph.D programs: 3 years.

9.Scholarship of Chinese Government Excellent International Students


     There is a one-time reward of 15000 RMB/per person for undergratuate students; a one-time reward of 30000 RMB/per psrson for graduate students;



10.NUIST Specialized Awards


       The specialized awards include the Award for Academic Excellence, the Award for Social Activity, the Award for Polite Manner and the Award for Student Cadre. Each award has 500 CNY grant



11.NUIST Award of Outstanding International Graduates


      The number of the award winners occupies at most 10% of the fresh degree international graduates.

      The university awards each Outstanding International Graduate the 1000 CNY prize and the certificate.

      The prize and the certificate will be canceled if the winner violates laws and regulations before graduation.

      College of International Students is responsible for the interpretation of the measures. 



12.NUIST Scholarship of Excellent International Students


       Scholarship of Excellent International Students has three classes: the first-class scholarship, the second-class scholarship and the third-class scholarship. The amounts and the number of scholarship students are as follows:


       First-class Scholarship: no more than 5% of self-supporting degree students are rewarded 3000 CNY per person per academic year.

       Second-class Scholarship: no more than 10% of self-supporting degree students are rewarded 2000 CNY per person per academic year.

       hird-class Scholarship: no more than 20% of self-supporting degree students are rewarded 1000 CNY per person per academic year.
