Archaeology,Cultural Relic Preservation  

I.  Training Objectives

This major aims to foster the inter-disciplinary and  applied senior specialized talents who could work on cultural  relics conservation research , administration, museum and culture relic  conservation site. The specialized education enables students to grasp the  basic knowledge and theory of archaeology, cultural relics conservation  science, study of artworks and museum in addition to the basic methods of the  field archaeological excavations and the research of archaeology and  conservation. What is more, the training on aspects such as the field  archaeological investigations and excavations,conservation of cultural  relics planning, cultural relics conservation technique and thesis writing  helps the students to be capable of performing archaeological and  conservative research as well as the relative  administrative work.

II. Training Standards

Students are required to grasp the basic knowledge of  the arts and science courses which are necessary for cultural relics  conservation. Mastering the general intellectual of cultural relics,museums,  anthropology enables students to be overlapping comprehensive talents of  arts, science and engineering. It is a necessity to be equipped with  the basic theory and method of archaeology and cultural relics conservation,  the practical operation together with the research ability.Graduates should obtain the following  professionall knowledge and ability:

1 Basic theory and method of archaeology and cultural  relics conservation should be obtained after rigid study and  practical operation.

2 Mastering the general procedures and steps  of archaeology and cultural relics conservation, being equipped with the  practical work and research basic ability of archaeology and cultural  relics conservation.

3 Being able to perform theory research  and restoration together with conservation in archaeology and cultural  relics conservation.

IIICurriculum Structure

Main Courses: General Theory of Chinese Archaeology,  Archaeometry, Field Archaeology, Introduction of Conservation of Cultural  Heritage, Conservation of Inorganic Antiques, Conservation of  Organic Antiques, Cultural Heritage/Antique and Circumstance,  Museology.Main Practical Teaching: Exercitation of  Field Excavation, Comprehensive practice on Conservation, Major Course  PracticeGraduation Thesis.

IV. Credit Requirements

133 credits in total, including 6 credits for platform  courses, 27 credits for core courses, 26 credits for graduation thesis and  practical teaching, 10 credits for elective courses, 73 credits  additional Chinese.

V. Duration of Study and Degree

Duration of Study: 4 years

Degree: Bachelor Degree of History

VI. Application Requirements

1. Applicant should be under the age of 45 and in good  health;

2. Applicant should have valid passport;  

3. Applicant should have obtained a senior high school  diploma or an equivalent diploma by the time of application;

4. Applicant should have a mastery of Chinese language  skills equal to HSK level 3/HSKK level 4 requirements.

VIII. Application documents:

1. Photocopy of High school graduation certificate,  this year’s graduates can provide proof of graduation when apply (either in  English or Chinese);

2. Photocopy of High school transcripts;  

3. Chinese Proficiency Test HSK 4;

4. Photocopy of passport and 5 passport -sized photos;  

5. Some students may required to provide  non-criminal
record. (If the original copy is not in either Chinese or  English, a notarized
English document is required.)

X. Tuition and Fees

1. Registration fee: RMB 350

2. Tuition Fees: RMB 15000 /year
