Application prerequisites

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, above the age of 18 and under the age of 60, have attained a senior high school diploma.

Application materials

1、USTB Application Form for International Students with a photograph fixed.  fill in the form and submit, then print a hardcopy to reference.

2、The final proof of academic qualification or a certificate of study , must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English.

3、A copy of your language test result .

4、One photocopy of your valid passport (Passport Type must be ordinary).

Note: Please hand in personally or sent them by post to International Students Office of USTB (The envelope must be marked “Application for Chinese Language Admission). Incomplete application materials will not be processed. Application materials will not be returned.

Application Process

1、Register your detail. Fill in the application form and submit.

2、International students office examine qualification of the applicant.

Unsuccessful

3、Within the specified application deadline , re-submit the erroneous/missing information.

Successful

4、Print a the application form and attach a photo , submit Application Materials and Application Fee to International Students Office of USTB.

5、International students office will send out the Admission Letter and Jw202 form in 15 days.

Application fee:

600rmb in cash

Application without application fee will not be processed. The application fee will not be refundable.

Application period

Spring semester: Applications for the limited vacancies will be accepted on a “rolling” (first-come, first-serve) basis starting on 1st November.

Fall semester: Applications for the limited vacancies will be accepted on a “rolling” (first-come, first-serve) basis starting on 1st April.

General Curriculum

1、Class hours : Monday to Friday, twenty to twenty-four hours per week according to the different class types.

2、Course setting: Grammar, Spoken Chinese, Pronunciation, Listening and Speaking, Chinese Character and so on

3、Class arrangement according to Mandarin proficiency : Instruction is divided elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Students are arranged according to the results of the Mandarin placement exam after registration at the beginning of the semester.

4、Documentation : Students will receive a USTB Student ID card upon registration, a program certificate and an official transcript upon completion of the program.

Medical insurance

All international students must be medically insured though out their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students on the day of registration. Students who do not have valid medical insurance will not be allowed to register.

There are different types of housing facilities for international student at USTB.

Self-funded students are required to find their own living accommodation. Please note that students who live off campus must register to the local police station within 24 hours.

Visa information

Students admitted to USTB may apply for your visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your country with your Admission Letter and JW201/202 form. International students who will study in China for 6 months are required to obtain “X” visa, which will valid for 30 days after you arrived in China. You must come to International Students Office and apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days in order to obtain a legal status in China.
