At CUMT-Beijing, every academic yearconsists of two semesters, namely spring semester and autumnsemester, with the latter marking the commencement of the academic year. The autumn semester starts in September and ends in January of the following year while the spring semester begins inMarch and ends inJuly. There is a winter and summer vacation every year. Usually, the summer vacation lasts 7 weeks and the winter vacation 5 weeks.
International students have the following options of study at CUMT-Beijing:
1. Programs for Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. Degrees
Undergraduate Program: 4 to 6 years. Students whofinish all the course work,complete thebachelor’s thesis andpass the oral defense will receive a graduation certificate along with a bachelor’s degree.
Master Program: 3 to 5 years. Students whofinish all the course work,complete themaster’s thesis andpass the oral defense will receive a graduation certificate along with amaster’s degree.
Ph.D.Program: 4-6 years. Students whofinish all the course work,complete thedoctor’s thesis andpass the oral defense will receive a graduation certificate along with adoctor’s degree.
2. Visiting Student
Senior Visiting Student: Applicants for a graduate level study must be under the age of 50 and have attained at least a master's degree.
General Visiting Student: Applicants for an undergraduate level study must be above the age of 18 and under the age of 50, and have completed at least two years of undergraduate study at their own university.
3. Chinese Language Training Program
The Program starts from approximately the beginning of March and September each year for both long term (about one school semester and above) and short term (less than one school semester) students, and provides basic and practical Chinese courses. There are different classes, including primary, secondary, and advanced classes for different levels of Chinese language training students.
Course outline: oral Chinese, listening comprehension, grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and a language practice course, etc. The university also provides colorful extracurricular activities each semester, including sightseeing, watching Beijing opera or acrobatics, and so on.
Registration is open all year round to visiting students and language students.
