China  University of Petroleum (UPC) is a national key university directly  affiliated to the Ministry of Education and a member of the “211  Project” and “985 innovation platform for preponderant discipline”  universities. UPC is a higher education institution co-constructed by  the Ministry of Education, five national energy enterprise groups and  the People’s Government of Shandong Province. Honored as “the cradle of  talents in petroleum science and technology”, UPC is an important  training base for cutting-edge talents in petroleum and petrochemical  industry. UPC has already developed into a multi-disciplinary,  well-rounded engineering university specialized in petroleum and  petrochemistry.  

    UPC  has two campuses in Dongying and Qingdao, with the total area of 4751  Chinese Mu, the total floor area of 1.37 million square meters and the  total library collection of 2.72 million books. The main campus is  located in Qingdao, a city with an internationally high reputation as  “sailing city” and “sea city” and a city with the most charming scenery.  Qingdao campus faces the beautiful Tangdao Bay and nears the  picturesque Little Pearl Hill. Dongying campus lies in Dongying, a city  best known as the central city, the ecocity and “the city of oil” of the  Yellow River Delta. It has a pleasing Huicui Lake and a top-ranking  base of production, learning and research.  

   UPC  consists of a Graduate School, 12 schools, College of International  Education, School of Military Reserve Officers, College of Distance and  Continuing Education. The full-time enrollment exceeds 19000  undergraduates, 5500 postgraduates and 980 international students. By  the October of 2015, the full-time enrollment exceeds 19000  undergraduates and 5500 postgraduates. At present, UPC has 980  international students from 74 countries for long-term study, 916 of  whom pursue their degrees. It has a total of 1628 full-time teachers,  including 7 academicians of the Chinese Academies, 900 professors and  associate professors, and 167 PhD. supervisors.  

    UPC  has 5 national key disciplines, 10 post-doctor stations, 11 doctoral  disciplines and 45 doctoral programs, 33 master’s disciplines and 150  master’s programs, and 61 undergraduate programs. Petroleum-related  programs stay ranked top in China.  

    UPC  opens more than 10 English-instructed undergraduate and postgraduate  programs. Postgraduate programs include Oil-Gas Well Engineering and  Oil-Gas Field Development Engineering. Undergraduate programs contain  Petroleum Engineering, Resource Prospection Engineering, Prospection  Technology and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology,  Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation,  Electrical Engineering and Automation, Civil engineering, Computer  science and technology, and Industrial and Commercial Management, etc.  

    UPC  attaches high importance to expanding its international academic  exchange and collaboration. It has established solid collaborative  relationships with over 100 higher education institutions and academic  organizations from 30 countries and regions, like USA, Canada,  Australia, UK and Russia.  

    UPC  has more than 200,000 graduates since its birth for the petroleum and  petrochemical industries as well as the national economic development.  These graduates are composed of leading figures in petroleum and  petrochemical industries, backbones in engineering technology, senior  government officials, and academicians of the Chinese Academy of  Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.  

    Over  six decades, China University of Petroleum has become an  engineering-oriented university and formed a mature integrated system of  science, management, liberal arts, law and economics. In the new  century, UPC dedicates itself to striving for the goal of “a nationally  renowned, leading-level and research-oriented university with its  petroleum disciplines reaching the world first class”.
