Directly under the jurisdiction of Civil Aviation Administration of China, CAUC is located in Tianjin on the border of Bohai Sea, adjacent to Tianjin Binhai International Airport. Now CAUC has grown to cover all the necessary disciplines within the civil aviation industry, which integrates the two disciplinary groups –Aviation Science & Technology and Transportation Engineering. The university is renowned as the cradle of talents for China’s civil aviation, the centre of scientific and technological research, as well as the window of cross-cultural communication. CAUC dedicates itself to fostering advanced engineering technicians and senior management personnel. Since its foundation, CAUC has produced more than 80,000 talents for civil aviation industry, which accounts for 1/7 of civil aviation personnel and 1/3 of the advanced engineering technicians and senior management personnel in China.
Occupying an area of 1.1 million square meters, the university has an enrollment of 22,000 students from 17 different colleges. There are 21 training aircrafts, 47 aircraft engines in the university. The total value of permanent asset is 1600 million Yuan (RMB), of which the total value of instructional instruments equipment is about 100 million Yuan (RMB).
The university has established extensive and profound worldwide cooperation relationships with many civil aviation organizations (such as ICAO, IATA, European Industry Council, FAA), world famous aeronautical manufacturing enterprises (such as Boeing, Airbus, Safran, Rolls-Royce), air transportation companies (such as United Airlines, VARIG, FedEx), and international aviation universities (such as Purdue University and GEA of France). There are reference rooms for aviation books and documents sponsored by Boeing, Airbus and Safran in the university library and CAUC is also the only non-customer authorized by Boeing to login in myboeingfleet.
The overall goal of CAUC is to promote its talents cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and internationalization comprehensively by 2020. By that time, the comprehensive strength of CAUC will be enhanced significantly with more specific school characteristics, which will contribute to building CAUC as a high-level, internationalized and teaching-and-research-oriented civil aviation university, by which CAUC can play a supporting and leading role for the development of China civil aviation industry at a higher level. Based on that, after another five to ten years’ development, CAUC will become a world-renowned civil aviation university with nationwide prestige.
CAUC began to recruit international students from 1992, including undergraduate students and language study students.
